All committed ballet, tap and modern students are offered the opportunity to take nationally recognised examinations with our exam board, the British Ballet Organisation, once the standard required has been met. A student's readiness for examination will be determined by a number of factors such as commitment, number classes attended per week, natural facility, natural ability, maturity, security of the syllabus knowledge and confidence- not simply their age. The final decision as to exam entrance and class progression will be made by the Principal. Students will only be invited to take their exams or move up a class when they are deemed ready, physically and mentally, and not before- all decisions are final, carefully considered and made with the best interests of the child. 

​Students who wish to take exams of any level will need to be prepared to attend additional classes and exam rehearsals if necessary. These will scheduled near to the exam time and will be compulsory to attend. Home practice is also essential and must be completed regularly. We accept that formal examination is a big undertaking so please do remember that exams are NOT compulsory and students are able to opt out. Most of these students will still able to progress with their peers, as long as their technique has reached the standard required to progress. Dancers of all ages, aims and abilities are welcome and valued at the school.
